Scotland pre-wedding photography in the Isle of Skye and Glencoe

The Highlands of Scotland, including Glencoe and the Isle of Skye are the most incredible locations in the UK for a pre wedding photograph shoot and was the perfect setting for Nicholas and Rebecca to take their adventure pre wedding shoot.

This amazing couple travelled over to the UK for their pre wedding shoot and we spent a few days travelling around Glencoe and the Isle of Skye for their pre wedding photographs. Some of the locations that we visited included Glencoe, the Glenfinan Viaduct, Isle of Sky and Sligachan
Bridge as well as the Lochs of Fort William and lots of other amazing locations in-between.

Nicholas and Rebecca were such a great couple to work with and we had so much fun over the course of this Scottish pre wedding shoot. Isle of Sky Pre Wedding Photoshoot

Planning a pre-wedding photoshoot on the Isle of Skye offers couples some of the most dramatic and unique landscapes for their pre wedding images. There is so much variety on Skye that it really is one of my favourite locations in the world for adventure pre wedding shoots. Here’s some of my favourite locations in this amazing place.

Top Locations on the Isle of Skye

1. The Old Man of Storr This iconic rock formation is a symbol of Skye and offers dramatic scenery that adds a touch of epic romance to any photo. Early morning shoots here capture the best light and avoid the crowds.

2. Neist Point Lighthouse For a shoot at the edge of the world feel, the lighthouse provides stunning sunsets and rugged cliff views. The journey there is as breathtaking as the destination.

3. Fairy Pools Crystal clear blue pools on the River Brittle are magical, with the Cuillin mountains as a backdrop. Early morning visits offer serene, undisturbed shooting conditions.

4. Quiraing A unique landscape of high cliffs, hidden plateaus, and pinnacles makes Quiraing a photographer's dream. Sunrise here is unparalleled.

5. Elgol Beach For couples looking for a blend of sea, sky, and the Cuillins, Elgol Beach offers it all, especially at sunset when the light dances across the water.

Hidden Gems

1. Coral Beaches Not as frequented as other spots, the Coral Beaches offer white sands and turquoise waters, evoking a sense of tranquillity and isolation perfect for intimate shoots.

2. Fairy Glen A lesser-known spot, Fairy Glen's surreal landscape of small grassy hills and lochans provides a fairy-tale setting without the crowds of the more famous Fairy Pools.

3. Brother's Point A secluded spot offering breathtaking views of the sea and rugged coastline, ideal for capturing those quiet, introspective moments.

Planning Your Pre-Wedding Photoshoot: Isle of Skye

Logistics and Timing

  • Travel Arrangements: Skye is accessible via the Skye Bridge or ferry. Consider hiring a car for the flexibility to explore multiple locations.

  • Accommodation: Book well in advance, especially during the peak season (May to September), as places can fill up quickly.

  • Timing: Early morning or late evening offers the best light and fewer crowds. Skye's weather can be unpredictable, so plan for flexibility.

Permits and Permissions

  • While most of Skye's iconic locations are accessible to the public, always check if specific permits are needed, especially for drone photography.

Dress and Footwear

  • Opt for comfortable yet stylish attire that complements the landscape. Sturdy footwear is a must for navigating Skye's rugged terrain.

Respecting the Environment

  • Skye's beauty is pristine. Maintain this by following Leave No Trace principles, ensuring the landscape remains untouched for future visitors.
