Isle of Skye to Glencoe: Pre Wedding Photography Scotland

Pre Wedding Photography Scotland: A Glencoe & Isle of Skye Adventure Elopement

Scotland is one of the best locations in the world for pre wedding photography and was the perfect setting for Edvyn and Wei's two-day pre-wedding photography adventure. The combination of the Isle of Skye and Glencoe was incredible, and I had such a fantastic time exploring the highlands with Edvyn and Wei.

This lovely couple's dream was to capture their pre-wedding story in Scotland's wild and romantic highlands, and there was no better place than the iconic Isle of Skye and the stunning Glencoe. These breathtaking and adventurous destinations provided the perfect backdrop for a unique pre wedding engagement shoot and proposal photographs.

Day 1: Enchantment in the Isle of Skye

Our pre wedding adventure began on the Isle of Skye, known for its breathtaking landscapes and fairy-tale like vistas. We started at the Old Man of Storr, a challenging but rewarding hike made worse by wind and rain. However, when we reached the summit, the clouds cleared briefly, revealing the most incredible view for the perfect start to this multi-day shoot. The towering rock formations of Storr, set against the morning sky, provided a dramatic backdrop for Edvyn and Wei's images and made battling the weather totally worthwhile.

Next, we travelled to Sligachan Bridge and the nearby waterfall, one of my favourite locations in Skye. The stunning mountain backdrop is one of the most dramatic and epic views on the Isle of Skye and is a lovely place to capture pre-wedding images that embrace the adventurous feeling of the Island.

Our final stop for the day was the iconic Eilean Donan Castle. As the sun set, the light was fading fast, and the weather was not on our side, but we still managed to create a few magical images with a castle backdrop before night fell.

Day 2: Discovering the Wonders of Glencoe

On the second day, we explored the rugged beauty of Glencoe and what an incredible day it was. Our first location was the Glencoe ViewPoint. The panoramic view of the valley, with its dramatic peaks and sweeping vista, is one of my favourite spots in Glenoe and always delivers extraordinary images.

Following this, we stopped at Glen Etive, a location renowned for its tranquil beauty and cinematic landscapes. The quiet road winding through the valley reveals hidden gems, including amazing river and waterfall views. These are perfect for stunning pre-wedding photographs with dramatic foregrounds and mountain views in the backdrop.

Glencoe's Lochan Trail is another hidden gem in the Glencoe area. The still waters reflect the surrounding mountains, creating a perfect, peaceful setting for more intimate photos. Visiting the Glencoe Lochan Trail is like stepping into a different world and contrasts beautifully with the rest of Glencoe. Surrounded by stunning forest scenery and the tranquil loch, the location is ideal for capturing special moments between any couple.

At Stob Dearg and Aonach Eagach, the landscape transforms into dramatic and rugged terrains, offering powerful backdrops for pre wedding photography. These spots are always great for capturing some of the grandeur of Glencoe, with the distant mountains providing a dramatic backdrop.

We finished this incredible adventure shoot in Fort William with some beautiful sunset images on Loch Eli. We were treated to some astonishing sunset colours, and it was the perfect end to a fantastic couple of days with this beautiful couple.

Here are a few images from this Isle of Skye and Glencoe pre wedding photography shoot in Scotland.

For couples looking for the most romantic and natural setting for the best pre wedding photography shoot in the world, then Scotland has you covered. The Scottish Highlands are the perfect mix of dramatic landscapes, historic architecture and natural wonders, making engagement and pre-wedding photoshoots here truly unique.

Isle of Skye: A Fairy-Tale Setting

The Isle of Skye, renowned for its beauty, is a photographer's paradise, especially for pre-wedding shoots. Each corner of Skye offers different and stunning views with backdrops that are nothing short of magical. Here are some of my top picks for photography locations on the Isle of Skye:

  1. Old Man of Storr: This iconic landmark provides a dramatic and otherworldly backdrop. Reaching it requires a hike, but the effort pays off with spectacular views that truly reward any couple willing to make the trek.

  2. Fairy Pools: These pools are a vision of crystal-clear waters and charming waterfalls, nestled in a setting that feels like it's been lifted from a fantasy world. You will need some time to explore this area, but the unique backdrops are worth the time required.

  3. Sligachan Bridge and Waterfall: This is one of my favourite spots in Skye, as it combines incredible, easy-access views. The waterfalls with mountain backdrops make a visit here a must for any pre wedding shoot on the Isle of Skye.

  4. Eilean Donan Castle: This is not technically on Skye but an incredible stopping point on the way to or from any pre wedding session on the Island. A stunning Scottish castle jutting out from the water and set against a dramatic landscape. This location is an absolute must to combine with any shoot taking place on or near the Isle of Skye.

  • Each of these locations requires some planning and time to appreciate fully, but they promise to add an unforgettable element to your pre-wedding photography.

Glencoe: Where Romance Meets Adventure

Glencoe, just a short drive from Fort William, is the number one spot in the heart of the Scottish Highlands. Its diverse landscapes range from calm lochs to dramatic mountains, making it the ultimate pre-wedding photo destination. Key spots in Glencoe include:

  • Glencoe ViewPoint: Offers panoramic views of the iconic valley.

  • Glen Etive: Known for its serene beauty and cinematic landscapes.

  • Loch Leven: A picturesque loch providing tranquil and romantic settings.

  • Glencoe Lochan Trail: Ideal for intimate shots amidst stunning forest scenery.
